Indonesia’s Rice Self-Sufficiency Recognized Internationally, Bulog Wants to Export

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia has just been recognized by an international institution, IRRI as a country with food security and self-sufficiency in rice. Therefore, the State-Owned Food Enterprise, Perum Bulog, plans to export rice.
Previously, President Joko Widodo also expressed his hope that Indonesia could play a role in helping to overcome the threat of the global food crisis. In, 345 million people in 82 countries are predicted to suffer from acute food shortages. This was conveyed at the opening of the 2022 National Coordination Meeting for Inflation Control, Thursday (18/8/2022).

The Head of the Commodity Procurement Division of Perum Bulog, Budi Cahyanto, said that Indonesia’s food security for rice is quite high. Where the government in this case Bulog has a stock of 1.1 – 1.5 million tons.
